News: Project Optimus Commercial

Lisbon - 19/02/2007 - Placing CD's outside on the street in the wind is not easy! That's why a production agency contacted us to help them make a TV-commercial for Optimus. This is a big telecom company in Portugal.

The idea was to place real CD boxes in the streets of Lisbon, where they would form a big chain reaction. In the end the CD's would topple the new Nokia 5200 mobile phone. A young man would place all these CD's by himself and then topple the first one. He would run together with the toppling CD's through the city to be in time to catch his new mobile phone. Holding the Nokia he could instantly listen to the music on the mp3 player inside the mobile phone.

Of course placing CD boxes on their edge is a challenge. But the wind and the bumpy, unlevelled streets made it a real adventure. We had prepared different techniques to make it work easier. But all the specific camera angles asked for a lot of improvisation.

Working together with the production crew in Lisbon went smoothly.
The shooting day was a long and busy day, but a very successful one!
